About MDF

Types of MDF

Some types of MDF are:

Types of MDF

1- Thin MDF

These wooden boards are divided into very thin sections from 18.8 mm to 2.5 mm and from 2.5 mm to 6 mm and 4 mm to 6 mm.

Among the common uses of this type of product, we can refer to the bottom of drawers, the back of cabinets and the top of doors, etc. All the process that can be done on regular MDF is also performed on this type.

Other applications of this product include wall panels, roof coverings, exhibition booths, automotive industry, spare tire cover behind the seat, production of curved boards, etc.

2- thick

According to the standard, thick MDF is divided into sections of 30-45 mm and 45-60 mm. And they are used for building architectural structures, columns, table bases, worktops (cabinets), bench floors, and cases where thick and large plates with flat machining properties and smooth surfaces are needed.

3- With low formaldehyde

The amount of formaldehyde emission from ordinary MDF depends on the type of glue and its amount.
This type of product is used in places where ventilation is not done well, it is humid and hot, or the residents have special needs and requests. It is used in schools, hospitals, etc. They also use this type in museums and exhibition places to reduce the corrosion of metals.

4- Resistant to moisture

The production of this type of product is possible for use in relative humidity of up to 80% by improving the usual urea formaldehyde glue used in MDF production or using an alternative anti-humidity glue. All the positive characteristics of ordinary wood are available in this type of boards, in addition to longer durability and less dimensional change due to moisture.
This type of product is usually used in bathroom and toilet furniture, dishwasher cabinets, floor coverings, windows, stairs, etc.

5- Resistant to insects and fungi

The most common use of this type of product is in the production of some floor coverings, which have anti-insect materials (insecticides and fungicides) that make certain pests safe and last longer.

To produce this product, wood can be covered with fireproof coatings or treated with special fireproof materials and salts. But the best way is to add flame retardants during the production process. This type of product covers walls, partitions, shelves, stores, etc. is used

7- With high specific weight

Normal standard MDFs are 12-19 mm thick. Higher densities, i.e. above 800, are also produced and supplied.
In fact, by adding fiber, glue and pressure during the production process, heavier papers are produced, the increase in density increases the machining and surfacing capabilities (paint, coating, etc.), as well as the mechanical and physical properties of MDF. Finds.
Among the uses of this type of products, we can refer to flooring, stairs, industrial shelves, desks, etc.

8- With low specific weight

LDFs with a specific weight of 650-550 kg/m and ULD with a specific weight of less than 550 kg/m, for use in cases where a lower weight is required and high strength is not required or in cases where the sound insulation properties are Being needed is produced and supplied. These MDFs are used in the construction of decorative architectural profiles, construction of exhibition stands, and in all cases that require manual handling.

9- With decorative covers

The most important and inseparable phase of MDF preparation for final use is its paving and especially its coating.
Types of coverings include wooden coverings (various types), paper, melamine, PVC, etc.
